Annual Meadow Park Clean-up/Picnic

On July 5, Alpha Alpha Theta members and officers were joined by members from Alleghany Community College, Community College of Baltimore- Catonsville, Anne Arundel Community College, as well as Maryland State President, Donald Cooke, and Middle States Regional President, Andrew Davis, attended the post fireworks clean-up of Meadow Park. Several family members of chapter members were in attendance as well. There were 17 people in attendance at the event and the park was totally cleaned within two hours. Participants saved the town of Elkton 34 hours of payroll by lending a helping hand. Collected items included a great many items for recycling, as well as someone’s screen door.

This event helped Alpha Alpha Theta achieve the clean communities and recycling components of the International Service Program.

From my Corner of the World…

Is it my imagination, or has the summer just flown by?

It seems like I was volunteering as an usher at this year’s commencement ceremony just last week, and in a little less than a month the fall semester will be kicking into high gear. Classes will start, there will be papers to write, homework to finish, and a host of other things such as work and family will require our attention, seeming to fill every waking moment of the day.

Hopefully, you will take the next few weeks to get a little rest, as well as make some plans for the fall.

Please remember Alpha Alpha Theta when you are doing that planning. We are planning a wide variety of programs and activities for the fall semester. You only get out of the organization what you are willing to contribute. Even an hour or so of your time each month could help us move closer to our goal of remaining a five star chapter, as well as enriching your own life as a Cecil student. Visit this web site often. Web Master Andy Davis will be providing frequent updates on upcoming events, as well as reporting on past programs and activities.

I am here to help you in any way that I can. Please do not hesitate to email or call me about any questions or concerns that you may have. I can be reached at home by calling 410-287-0935. I also plan to establish a schedule of office hours this fall where I will be available on campus in our office space.(Room 301 of the Technology Center) Let me know what I can do to make your Phi Theta Kappa experience a valuable one. Whether you are looking for volunteer opportunities, need help obtaining a letter of membership from International, or need some help navigating the scholarship search on ptk.org, I will help you in any way that I an able.

Enjoy the rest of your summer-I look forward to seeing you in the fall.
