NOTES AND NEWS |
Welcome to the first edition of Alpha Alpha Theta’s new bi-weekly newsletter. In an attempt to consolidate information and eliminate frequent emails to group members, we are developing this twice a month tool in order to keep you informed about what is going on in our chapter, region, and Phi Theta Kappa International. Please feel free to offer your comments, submit items for publication, or submit questions you have or ideas for future articles or programs. Also, we are looking for people to work on the newsletter…as writers and editors, so if you are looking for real world experience that ties into your education, this would be the perfect outlet for English, Journalism, or a host of other majors (or any other creative type that would like to help out). Email your comments or questions to ssnyder304@comcast.net and put Newsletter in the subject line. |

Regional Hershey Park Outing to be held August 7. |
The annual Middle States picnic at Hershey Park will be held Friday August 7, 2009. Registration includes admission to the park, as well as a 2 hour all you can picnic style lunch buffet. The cost for members is $42, $45 for guests, and $38 for youngsters under age 9 and those over age 55. Regular park admission alone is $51, so this is quite a bargain. Members interested in attending must submit their ticket money to advisor Jane Sharrow by Thursday, July 23, in order to have the ticket reservations to Middle States on time. There are no refunds available after July 27. If you are interested in going, and would be willing to car pool, please contact Steve Snyder or Andy Davis, and we will try to coordinate ride shares. There is a $10 per vehicle parking fee, which attendees are responsible for paying, so ride sharing could save money on gas and parking fees. For more information about the park itself, visit www.hersheypark.com. |

Wall-E Project at HACC Lancaster |
Alpha Alpha Theta will hold its third summer picnic on Friday, July 31, at 5pm at North East Park. This will be a great opportunity to network and meet other members in a purely social setting (no meeting or clean-up with the picnic as we have done in the past). Members are welcome to bring a guest, and all we ask is that you contribute a covered dish or prepared item for the picnic. The chapter will provide hot dogs, hamburgers and fixings, as well as drinks and serving ware. We will plan some games and other entertainment to help everyone unwind and relax. Current members as well as alumni are encouraged to attend. Please RSVP by Wednesday, July 29, so we can be sure we have enough food and other supplies. If you need a suggestion for what to bring, or have other questions, do not hesitate to ask. Questions and RSVP’s may be forwarded to ssnyder304@comcast.net. If you are a member of our Facebook group, you can RSVP there as well. |

Alpha Alpha Theta, under the leadership of VP of Service Andrew Davis, will be taking our Wall-E Project on the road. On September 12, the Alpha Nu Omega chapter will host a dual presentation, co-sponsored and co-organized by Alpha Alpha Theta. Attendees will be able to watch the Wall-E film, attend a presentation by Al Gore’s Climate Project, as well as participate in Andy’s discussion and other family oriented activities. The event will start at 1 pm, and we hope many of you will be able to attend. The campus is approximately 1 hour north of North East, and we encourage you to recruit family and friends to participate as well. We will publish more detailed information, along with directions to the Lancaster campus in later issues as the day of the event approaches. Anyone interesting in volunteering for the day should contact Andrew Davis at ajdvs3@comcast.net. |
