In order to become a member of Phi Theta Kappa

Have taken 12 acceptable credit hours or more and have a 3.25GPA

pay a $75 membership fee this is a one time deal or have the fee waived

by putting in 15 service hours helping the chapter.

this can be done by helping with events and going to a couple of meetings.

to remain a member you must have a minimum 3.00 GPA

you will have one semester grace period to make up any poor grades before being removed as a member

So if you get a bad grade that lowers the GPA to below a 3.0, as long as you make up the class or classes the next semester the class is available you remain a member.
